June 14, 2013 - Babies No More

At 13 weeks, the youngsters don't look like babies any more and their cute peeping has turned to adolescent squawks.

There are very small differences in the Silver Laced Wyandottes--all are stunning with lots of 'chrome'. The lightest chick did turn out to have more white than her sisters, but not by much. Two look nearly identical with a little more black. I'll put leg bands with numbers on them when they join the big girls so I can keep track. Same goes for the Light Brahmas--identical so far. Combs will help distinguish them as they grow up.

April 26, 2013 - Moving Day

The chicks are 6 weeks old already--time for them to move to the outdoor pen where they will live next to but not with the older girls. This will be home until they are ready to lay. Here they are having some treats in their new digs.

April 20, 2013 - Visitors!

Parents and their children visited the chickens today--a real farm experience for everyone. Here are some of their experiences with eggs and baby chickens.

April 19, 2013 - Chicks and Hens

The babies are 5 weeks old. The Silver Laced Wyandottes are coloring up. There will be a range from lots of white to less white on their black laced feathers. The little gray Easter Egger will be white and light red from what I can tell now. The Light Brahma's are very healthy.
