Photo Gallery ~ Fall 2009 Now (Click thumbnails for enlargements--Scroll to the bottom for first entry on this page) December 7, 2009 - A Death in the Family We lost one of the Buff Orpingtons today--our first death. I found her out in the pasture with no signs of 'fowl' play. She was very photogenic and had unusual green eyes--Buffs usually have amber eyes. Here are some pictures of her happy life. Most of the original flock are molting and looking very ragged. The worst looking by far are the Barred Rocks--they seem to drop all of their feathers practically overnight. The first photo compares a molting Barred Rock with the same hen with feathers. This is a good thing in a production bird because it means they will have a short molt and get back to laying sooner. October 3 , 2009 - Life on the Farm The first photo is the Black Australorp who seems to have receovered from whatever ailment she had--too many worms? The second photo is my Columbian Wyandotte. Notice her comb--there is a little point developing! A few of the other also girls posed nicely. Now (Click thumbnails for enlargements--Scroll to the bottom for first entry on this page) |
