November 7, 2010 - Studio Portraits

My Easter Eggers #2 are 22 weeks old now and looking just lovely. Not laying and may not till spring, but I got some nice pictures of the more photogenic of them and with the magic of Photoshop, they look like they posed in the studio. Visit my 'chicks to adult plumage' page where I've documented these and the other newest EEs from hatchlings to now.

November 3, 2010 - Molting

This Easter Egger is giving molting a whole new image. My hens have usually molted slowly over a period of a couple of months. This gal just dropped her clothes practically overnight. Here are 2 photos of the nudie and a summer picture of her in her best dress.

October 11, 2010 - Youngster Update

With each additional batch of chicks, I take fewer photos. Poor dears are like the forth child.

Here are the 5 black and white babies--last pictures of them (Summer 2010 link above), they were fur balls. Now they are feathered out. The Silver Laced Wyandotte is showing a lot more chrome (white) than the other SLW adult I have--even as a child, the other girl was nearly black while this one looks like she will be stunning.

October 6, 2010 - Another Loss

We are awaiting lab test results to be sure, but I think our lovely Columbian Wyandotte has succumbed to Mareks Disease. From walking around on Monday to completely unable to walk today. The lab will have results within 2 weeks so I'll finally know for sure what has been taking my girls. (October 8 update--she had a broken leg and not Mareks. Not sure how this happened, but the end result would have been the same--no leg/no chicke.)

Here are a few pictures of the lovely cover girl in her happy life.
