This a side view of the pond in early spring, 2003--five years old. The wisteria makes a bit of a mess in the pond, but it's worth it for its beauty and wonderful fragrance.

The pond hasn't changed much since Year 4 except that we removed the birch tree to the left of the waterfall. It was pretty with yellow leaves in fall, but was making too much of a mess all year long with seeds in spring and summer followed by leaf drop. We needed shade in earlier years, but the evergreens and maple have matured and provide plenty of shade.
