Construction - Deck

Deck Here's progress on the deck frame over the filter chambers and the patio deck.

For the filter, three deck boards at a time are bolted together so they can be lifted to access the filter chambers below. From the top of the completed deck you can't tell the sections are removable! The completed portion is over the settling chamber. The open area on the left with water will be the biological filter and the chamber on the right will house the pumps, UV light and sump for draining the pond.

Here's Mark's beautiful bridge and a sunny late November day at the pond. The filter deck and bridge were completed soon after the pond was filled (and before fish were added) to allow rainwater to leach fish-toxic tanins from the redwood over the winter.
